In This Together case study - US 41, Marinette County

The Marinette Area Chamber of Commerce organized a Barricade Busters Extravaganza in August 2004 to help businesses during the US 41 project.

The event carried a $10 admission charge that included food, door prizes, music and a silent auction. The funds raised went toward signs to direct traffic from the detour route into local business areas. Merchants could list their business on these signs for $50 per sign.

Additional promotional and advertising campaigns were also used throughout the project, including the design of a project mascot - BEARicade.

In November 2004, the chamber held an Interstate Bridge Walk and party on Stephenson Island. Pieces of the old bridge were sold as souvenirs for $1. The souvenirs came with a certificate of authenticity signed by the mayor.
