DMV online services available:

  • License plate look up - find out when your plate expires; get the RRN number so you can renew your plates online; check to see if an emissions (IM) test is required for the vehicle; find out if your plate is suspended or valid.

  • Where's my title? - know if your title has been processed recently and when to expect it in the mail.

For the DMV products listed below . . . Customers should expect to receive their product within the next week for applications mailed to DMV on or before:
Title October 24, 2009
License plates October 24, 2009*
License plate sticker - renewal mailed to Milwaukee address on postcard November 5, 2009
License plate sticker - renewal by telephone/Internet November 6, 2009
License plate sticker - renewal mailed to Madison, or information/ address change on postcard mailed to Milwaukee October 31, 2009
Disabled ID card November 3, 2009
Special plate (sequential number) October 27, 2009*
Special plates (COL, CLS, AMA and personalized plates) October 27, 2009**

*License plates are mailed separately through the U.S. Postal Service using standard class mail and may take an additional three weeks to be delivered after the title is received.

**Please allow an additional four weeks from the issuance of the certificate of registration for manufacturing and mailing of special and personalized plates.

  • Because the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) may have to research your question before replying, please allow four business days for an e-mail response.  Please do not send a second e-mail.

  • If you e-mail us about a specific vehicle, we will need the license plate number or a vehicle identification number to respond to your inquiry.
