Governor Doyle approves $3,300,000 for projects at Dane County Regional Airport
May 27, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved $3,300,000 for two projects at the Dane County Regional Airport, in
Madison. One project involves designing and reconstructing Taxiway C from Taxiway B to Runway
14/32. The other project will provide new taxiways and roadways for additional hangar facilities.
The Governor's action releases $2,640,000 in state funds for the projects; Dane County is
contributing the remaining $660,000.
According to David Montesinos, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the taxiway project will enhance safety at the airport by reconstructing pavements
that are in very poor condition. The hangar improvement project will help the business community
and provide new revenue for the airport. Private and corporate aircraft account for over half the
take-offs and landings at the airport.
The projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008.
Dane County Airport consists of three paved runways, parallel taxiways, aircraft parking
aprons and ramps, terminal building, and FAA control tower. Currently, 11 airline companies serve
the airport. In 2005, more than 808,000 people flew out of Dane County Airport and cargo
transported totaled 12,260,000 pounds.
