Governor Jim Doyle approves WIS 23 improvements
June 6, 2008
Project, detour begins July 7
As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $1.5 million contract to improve approximately one mile of WIS 23 between County M and 8th Drive in Marquette County.
Construction is scheduled to begin on July 7, 2008.
Earth, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Improvements include a new asphalt pavement, as well as intersection and driveway upgrades. The project also includes construction of a new bridge over Ox Creek and a new cattle pass under WIS 23.
Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of August 2008, according to Jeff Stewart, WisDOT project manager.
Beginning July 7, 2008, crews will detour WIS 23 traffic via I-39, WIS 21, and WIS 22. The north, south, and west segments of the WIS 23/County M intersection will remain open to local traffic during the duration of the project. Motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations in the vicinity of the County M intersection.
The project will be paid for with a combination of federal, state, and local funds.
