Plans for restoration of County A in Village of Lake Delton will be discussed at public information meeting July 16
July 10, 2008
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has scheduled a public information
meeting to discuss the restoration of County A in the Village of Lake Delton. The
meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, in the Crystal Grand Music Theater, 430
Munroe Street, Wisconsin Dells. A presentation will be made at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting will be conducted in an open house format. A variety of exhibits and maps will be
featured and representatives from WisDOT, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Sauk County,
and the Village of Lake Delton will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.
Lake Delton breached County A due to heavy rain on June 9, 2008, creating a 300-foot-wide
channel to the Wisconsin River and draining the 267-acre lake of more than 600 million gallons of
water. Local officials subsequently approved a jurisdictional transfer of one mile of County A
to the state. The transfer relieved the local units of government of the costs associated with the
project and enabled the state to receive federal funding for reconstruction.
The anticipated design to reconstruct County A and the project’s timeline will be discussed
at the July 16 meeting.
