Governor approves WIS 27 highway improvement project in Chippewa County
July 11, 2008
As part of his ongoing “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle has signed a $1.6 million contract to resurface WIS 27 from 10th Avenue, east of the town of Lafayette, to just south of Cornell.
Fahrner Asphalt Sealers Incorporated is the contractor for the project. This project includes roadway rehabilitation, permanent sign updates and upgrading all beam guard terminals to energy absorbing terminals.
Construction is scheduled for August 2008 through May 2009. This project will be completed under traffic. The contractor will use traffic control for moveable operations, flaggers and temporary lane closures to complete the required work. There will be delays as work progresses.
Federal transportation funds will pay 80 percent of the project costs with state transportation funds paying the remaining 20 percent.
