Governor Doyle approves $58,000 project at Menomonie Municipal Airport
July 11, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $58,353 project to provide design-engineering at the Menomonie
Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $1,459 in state funds to design a new terminal
building. The city of Menomonie is contributing another $1,459 and the Federal Aviation
Administration is providing $55,435.
According to Kim Kaarto, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will design a new terminal building to replace the undersized and
poorly functioning existing building.
The design is expected to be completed this summer, with construction to take place during
the summer of 2009.
Menomonie Municipal Airport has two runways. Currently, 23 aircraft are based at the airport,
and approximately 13,550 take-offs and landings occur each year.
