Governor Doyle approves $185,807 project at Hartford Municipal Airport
July 14, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $185,807 project to purchase land at the Hartford Municipal
Airport. The Governor's action releases $148,645 in state funds to purchase a parcel of land in the
airport's runway approach. The city of Hartford is contributing the remaining $37,162.
According to Matt Malicki, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will help protect the land use in the approach to runway 36, the
airport's cross-wind runway. By protecting the land use, the city of Hartford can ensure that the
approach over this land is clear of obstructions to the flying public.
The purchase should be completed during summer of 2008.
Along with the primary runway, facilities at the Hartford Municipal Airport include a
2,250-foot turf airstrip. There are some 70 aircraft based at the airport and approximately 16,000
aircraft operations (take-offs and landings) each year.
