August 1, 2008

Motorists must find alternate routes

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region office at Green Bay is announcing the College Avenue bridge in Appleton will close for 16 months, beginning Monday, August 11, 2008. A new bridge is being built on the existing site and will reopen in November 2009.

Beginning August 11, the city of Appleton will be doing utility work on the approaches adjacent to the bridge. Demolition of the existing bridge will begin approximately one week later.

Motorists are advised the bridge will be closing early Monday, August 11 and they should begin using alternate routes that day.
