WisDOT public information meeting on US 10 east will be held August 13
August 4, 2008
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting (PIM) for the US 10 corridor study between I-39 and Portage County K, east of the city of Stevens Point.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 2008, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the gymnasium of Bannach Elementary School, 5400 Walter Street, Stevens Point.
The meeting will follow an open house format. No formal presentations are planned. Various maps and exhibits will be on display. Attendees will be given the opportunity to submit written or verbal comments about the study.
Representatives from WisDOT will be available to discuss design modifications to the three remaining bypass alternatives that have occurred since the last PIM in 2004.
The purpose of the US 10 corridor study is to identify and officially map a future corridor for the highway. In order to protect and preserve the right of way needed for the preferred alternative, WisDOT uses Statute 84.295 as a planning tool to map the area required for the future bypass of US 10. WisDOT expects to finalize the environmental documentation for the study in early 2009.
Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, may contact Michael O’Meara at (715) 421-8313, or by writing to 1681 2nd Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495-4768. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and who require an interpreter may request one by contacting Michael O’Meara at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (dialing 711).
