Governor Doyle approves $475,000 project at Lawrence Timmerman Airport
August 5, 2008
Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $475,000 project to rehabilitate airfield pavements at Milwaukee County's Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport. The Governor's action releases $11,875 in state funds to help complete the project. Milwaukee County is contributing another $11,875, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing $451,250.
According to Wendy Hottenstein, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will repair various deteriorated pavement areas and the sealcoat will prevent intrusion of water and debris into the cracks; this will extend the life of the pavements.
The project is scheduled to be completed by November 2008.
Facilities at Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport include two paved runways measuring 4,106 feet and
3,202 feet, along with two turf airstrips that together accommodate approximately 80,000 take-offs
and landings each year.
