WisDOT preparing long-term corridor preservation plan
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss a corridor preservation plan for WIS 29 between WIS 13 (Abbotsford) and US 51 (Wausau) in Marathon County.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edgar High School, 203 East Birch Street, Edgar. A formal presentation is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format.
WisDOT is preparing the preservation plan to develop a long-term vision for the WIS 29 corridor with the goal of officially designating, mapping, and preserving the corridor as a freeway. WIS 29 is a backbone route in the WisDOT Corridors 2020 Plan and is a vital corridor for transportation and economic development.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and provide input regarding the corridor preservation plan. Maps showing the potential long-term concepts for WIS 29 will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the plan on an individual basis.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Dave Meurett at (715) 421-8348. Written comments regarding the corridor preservation plan can be mailed to Dave Meurett, WisDOT, 1681 Second Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495.
