Traffic cameras being installed on WIS 172 and I-43 in Brown County
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) NE Region office at Green Bay is announcing traffic cameras are being installed at locations on WIS 172 and I-43 beginning Monday, August 11. The $1.6 million project will be completed by December.
According to NE Region Director Mike Berg, “These cameras are going to help us monitor real time traffic issues in the Green Bay area.”
The cameras are being installed on WIS 172 at US 41, Ashland Avenue, Riverside Drive, Bellevue Street and I-43 as well as on I-43 at Webster Avenue and Atkinson Drive and will be monitored by the Statewide Traffic Operations Center (STOC) in Milwaukee, State Patrol in Fond du Lac and the NE Region office in Green Bay.
Local media is being allowed to access these cameras and citizens will be able to access them on WisDOT’s web site.
There are also plans to expand this network of traffic cameras when US 41 is expanded in Brown and Winnebago counties beginning late next year.
Traffic impacts during installation will be minimal. There could be some occasional ramp and shoulder closures.
