Governor Jim Doyle approves WIS 47 improvements in Vilas County
August 14, 2008
As part of his “Grow Wisconsin” initiative to invest in Wisconsin’s infrastructure and stimulate our state’s economy, Governor Jim Doyle recently signed a $1.1 million contract to improve the Mishonagon Creek bridge on WIS 47 between Woodruff and Lac Du Flambeau in Vilas County.
Construction is scheduled to begin during the week of August 18, 2008.
Lunda Construction Company of Black River Falls is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will replace the steel culverts with a single span concrete bridge slab. Crews will also adjust the bridge and roadway alignment to improve sight distance.
Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2008.
WIS 47 will remain open to traffic during construction. The roadway will be reduced to one lane with temporary traffic signals.
The project will be paid for with a combination of federal, state, and local funds.
