Governor Doyle approves $412,000 project at Central Wisconsin Airport
August 19, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $412,000 project to acquire snow removal equipment and begin the
first phase of the terminal baggage area development at the Central Wisconsin Airport, near
Mosinee. The Governor's action releases $10,300 in state funds to help complete the project.
Marathon and Portage counties are contributing an additional $10,300, and the Federal Aviation
Administration is providing $391,400.
According to Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will improve the efficiency of the movement of passengers in the
terminal baggage area. The new snow removal equipment will increase the airport's ability to clear
the runways of snow, resulting in improved safety for aircraft and passengers alike.
The project is scheduled and should be completed by November 2008.
The Central Wisconsin Airport includes two paved runways, a control tower, hangars and a
46,000 square-foot terminal featuring a five-gate concourse, restaurant-bar, car rental, gift shop
and miscellaneous other amenities.
