Public information meeting August 28 for WIS 13 in Marathon County

August 21, 2008

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting for the upcoming reconstruction projects on WIS 13 from Twenty-Sixth Road to WIS 98 in Marathon County.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the Lions Shelter in the Downtown Park, 109 Park Street, Spencer, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A brief presentation covering the proposed improvements is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format. Maps and exhibits of the proposed improvements will be on display. WisDOT staff will be available to answer questions.

Project improvements include the reconstruction of approximately 4.5 miles of WIS 13 between Twenty-Sixth Road and WIS 98 and the reconstruction of approximately 2.1 miles of side roads. Acquisition of right-of-way and temporary limited easements are scheduled to begin fall 2008.

The reconstruction of the section between Apple Street and WIS 98 in the village of Spencer is currently scheduled to begin in 2011. WisDOT plans to keep the highway open to traffic during construction. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

The construction of WIS 13, from Twenty-Sixth Road to Apple Street - including side road construction - in the town of Spencer, is currently scheduled for 2015. WisDOT plans to close the highway during construction. Motorists will be detoured via WIS 97 and WIS 153.

Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, may contact Roxann Cuty, WisDOT Project Leader, at (715) 421-8081. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Roxann Cuty, 1681 Second Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54495.
