Public information meeting to discuss WIS 173 bridge replacement in Monroe County August 25

August 21, 2008

A public information meeting will be held Monday, August 25, 2008 to discuss planned replacement of a WIS 173 bridge located approximately two miles north and east of WIS 21 in Monroe County.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Town of Byron Town Hall located at 23286 WIS 21, east of Tomah and approximately two miles east of Wyeville near the intersection with County PP.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to replace the bridge carrying WIS 173 over the East Fork of the Lemonweir River and to reconstruct the adjacent roadway approaches. Proposed improvements include a new widened bridge, resurfacing the immediate roadway approaches near the bridge and beam guard replacement adjacent to the bridges. WisDOT is proposing to close WIS 173 to through traffic during construction and post a detour route using WIS 21 and WIS 80. WisDOT welcomes comment on the proposed road closure at the meeting. Construction is currently scheduled for 2010.

The August 25 meeting will be conducted in an open house format with a variety of exhibits and maps available for review. Representatives from WisDOT will be on hand to answer questions throughout the evening.  Attendees will have the option of making written or verbal comments during the gathering.

Persons who are unable to attend on August 25 can contribute comments about the project by contacting WisDOT Project Manager Reiny Yahnke at:
