Governor Doyle approves $373,685 project at Platteville Municipal Airport
October 1, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $373,685 project to construct a T-hangar and taxiway extension at
the Platteville Municipal Airport. The Governor's action releases $2,927 in state funds to extend a
taxiway in the hangar area, update planning documents and upgrade runway edge lights. The city of
Platteville is contributing another $15,758 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing
$355,000. The project will also include design and construction of a six-bay T-hangar.
According to Stacey Miller, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the project will generate documents for planning purposes, develop the hangar area
to meet airport growth and upgrade runway light lenses to meet FAA requirements.
Construction is scheduled for fall 2008 and spring 2009.
Facilities at the Platteville Municipal Airport include the existing 4,000-foot primary
runway and a 3,600-foot crosswind runway.
