State reprimands local auto wholesaler

November 5, 2008

In an effort to keep its motor vehicle wholesale license, Canadian Auto Associates, 2200 Douglas Ave., Racine, agrees to follow better business practices. The motor vehicle wholesaler admitted to illegal activities:

  • Engaging in the purchase and sale of new vehicles for which they are not franchised,
  • Failing to maintain an accurate logbook.

Canadian Auto Associates agrees to allow agents or employees of WisDOT to inspect all business records necessary to verify that it has discontinued these illegal practices and is in compliance with state law.

The agreement is part of a special order issued by David Schwarz, administrator of the state Department of Administration's Division of Hearings and Appeals. The action came as the result of an investigation by the WisDOT Division of Motor Vehicles' Dealer and Agent Section. Violation of a special order is grounds for denial, suspension, or revocation of a representative license.
