Governor Doyle approves $315,790 project at Reedsburg Municipal Airport
November 24, 2008
Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $315,790 project to pay for several improvements at the Reedsburg
Municipal Airport. The governor's action releases $7,895 in state funds to acquire snow removal
equipment and provide for removal of an obstruction in the runway approach area. The city of
Reedsburg is contributing another $7,895 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing
$300,000.
According to Michael Gabor, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation, the new equipment will make it easier and faster to remove snow during inclement
weather.
The project is scheduled to be completed during the fall of 2008.
Reedsburg Municipal Airport is a Transport/Corporate-category airport owned and operated by
the city of Reedsburg. Located in the western portion of Sauk County, the airport is situated on a
113-acre parcel of land. The airport has two paved runways; one is 4,840 feet long, with a parallel
taxiway; and the other is 2,510 feet long. Sixteen aircraft are based at the airport, and 14,300
take-offs and landings occur there each year.
