Developing a project like the Burlington bypass requires extensive community involvement and coordination with local governments and state and federal review agencies.

Public information meetings (PIMs) are held to keep the public informed about project activities and to obtain public input. The meetings are announced through advertisements in area newspapers, display ads, project newsletters and on this Web site.

PIMs and hearings

  • PIMs will be scheduled during the final design phase of the bypass project.

  • There are no meetings to report on at this time.

Past meetings

  • March 12, 2003 - Additional local information center meetings were held to present the public with a more detailed design of the preferred alternative.
  • August 20, August 28, September 19 and September 23, 1998 - Additional local information center meetings were held to present the public with a more detailed design of the preferred alternative.
  • May 1996 - Public hearing was conducted.
  • August, September and October 1995 - Secondary impact evaluation meetings were held to discuss existing and future land use policies concerning the numerous municipalities within the study area.
  • Starting in December 1994 - Meetings to present project updates and collect input from the public were held at local information centers the third Thursday of every month for 16 months.
  • November 1994 - Data gathering at the beginning of the public involvement process.
  • Numerous meetings were held throughout the project with individual property owners, special interest groups and municipalities to discuss individual concerns as requested.
