WIS 38 study - environmental document

An Environmental Assessment (EA) documents the need for the proposed improvements, the alternatives that were considered, and their impacts.

An EA is required by the National and Wisconsin Environmental Policy Acts for projects with potentially significant social, economic, natural resource and other impacts.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is the lead agency for the EA, which was prepared in accordance with FHWA guidelines.

The preferred alternative has been identified, and the corridor study has concluded with a set of concept plans showing the location and dimensions for the proposed improvements. The plans were provided to local officials for use in land use planning and preserving the land needed to build the improvements.

The EA is available online via the links below and was made available for review and comment at the following locations until September 1, 2006:

Caledonia Village Hall
6922 Nicholson Road

Oak Creek Library
8620 South Howell Avenue
