Traffic impacts during construction

US 45 will be closed and detoured for roughly 3 months during 2008. This closure is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 27th.

Information on the detour route is available on the Maps page.

For the remainder of the project, the existing lanes of US 45 will remain open to traffic except for short-term closures as listed below:

  • Shallow bedrock is present along US 45 just south of Breezewood Lane/Woodland Road. Blasting of this bedrock is necessary to lower the roadway and improve vision in this area. Blasting operations will occur along the east side of the existing lanes in 2007 and early 2008 prior to the official closure/detour of US 45. Traffic on US 45 and Breezewood Lane/Woodland Road will be stopped for roughly 20-minute periods during these blasting operations to maintain safety within and around the project. These temporary stoppages will only be permitted Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or on Fridays between 9 a.m. and noon. No temporary stoppages will be allowed on Saturdays or Sundays.
  • Breezewood Lane/Woodland Road will also be closed during the 3-month closure of US 45. While US 45 is open to traffic, cross traffic at Breezewood Lane/Woodland Road will be maintained except when closures for blasting operations have been permitted.
  • Cross traffic at Oak Ridge Road/Lakeview Road and at Grandview Road will be maintained at all times.
