Funding

In total, the Recovery Act provided $529.1 million to Wisconsin for state and local highway and bridge projects. About 30 percent of this total, or about $158 million, was made available for local roads and bridges. Of this total:

  • $38.7 million to be used within Milwaukee urbanized area
  • $9.7 million to be used within Madison urbanized area
  • $109 million to be used throughout the remainder of Wisconsin

Recovery Act funding was distributed in the same relative proportions that go to the various categories of government and types of projects that exist in WisDOT’s normal local and federal aid highway programs.
