State highway projects - approval and delivery process

Metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs)

Once the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) establishes the eligibility of projects, it works with the MPOs and others to set priorities and establish a list of projects to utilize Recovery Act funds.

Joint Finance Committee approval

Wisconsin Act 2 requires WisDOT to submit projects to the Joint Committee on Finance before allocating any federal transportation aid received by the state.

Lettings

WisDOT held special letting dates for state and local economic recovery projects on:

• April 28, 2009
• May 27, 2009
• June 23, 2009
• July 28, 2009

Letting dates for economic recovery projects during 2010 are set for:

• January 26, 2010
• February 23, 2010
• March 23, 2010
• April 27, 2010

Contractors interested in bidding on economic recovery projects must follow the normal prequalification process and other established deadlines and processes for the special letting dates. For more information, consult the Highway Construction Contract Information (HCCI) Web site.

For updated lists of project awards from the special letting dates, review the FY09 Contract Log . This log is continually updated to reflect new awards and lettings.
