US 2/WIS 13 Intersection improvement

The US 2/WIS 13 project is located in Bayfield County. US 2 is a 2020 Connector Route on the Wisconsin Sate Highway System and serves as a major east/west route. WIS 13 is on the National Highway System (NHS) and serves as a major north-south route through the area. This intersection has been modified several times over the last 35 years. Injury and fatality crash rates are high.

Mainly used by motorists traveling between the Washburn/Bayfield area and the City of Ashland, this project will provide a safer and more efficient roadway. Either new signals or a roundabout is anticipated to reduce the crash rates.

The project is 3.2 miles in length with construction estimated to begin in 2011 and ending in September of 2011. Estimated construction costs are $1.9 million for the roundabout option.
