US 41 expansion, Winnebago County - Public involvement

Highway projects are cooperatively developed by the public, state and federal review agencies, and WisDOT. Preparing a project like the US 41 six-lane expansion in Winnebago County takes several years, and extensive effort is always made to keep the public involved and informed.

• Oct. 11, 2007 - PIM was conducted to obtain public comment on preliminary design plans for reconstructing US 41 and its interchanges from WIS 26 to County E/Witzel Avenue.

• Aug. 29, 2007 - PIM was conducted focusing on US 41 between WIS 76 and Breezewood Lane.

• 2001 and 2000 - Three other public information meetings were conducted during the development and refinement of alternatives for the US 41 six-lane expansion. The first meeting was conducted in 2000 and the remaining two were conducted in 2001.

News releases

• Sept. 17, 2009 - Girder placement will cause traffic delays on US 41 in Winnebago County
• Sept. 4, 2009 - Public meeting Sept. 9 to discuss Scheuring Road (County F) interchange in Brown County
• July 20, 2009 - Work to start on US 41 Project in Winnebago County July 20
• June 2, 2009 - PIM for US 41 in Winnebago County, Oshkosh

Local government 

WisDOT met with local public officials in May 2000, February, July and September 2001, July 2005, and February, June and August 2007 to present the study objectives, scope and schedule, and obtain information on local land use issues and concerns.

Resolutions have been passed by several local governments and interest groups supporting the US 41 six-lane expansion project.
