WIS 100 (Brown Deer Road)

Project overview

The WIS 100 (Brown Deer Road) project in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties, involves the reconstruction of two miles of WIS 100 (Brown Deer Road) from WIS 57 (Green Bay Road) to I-43.

Upgrades throughout the corridor, in addition to reconstructing all of its existing concrete pavement, will include:

  • Adjusting the configurations of existing median openings
  • Extending taper entry lengths for turn lanes
  • Channelizing intersection left turn lanes
  • Adding new sidewalk near Kildeer Court in the Village of Brown Deer
  • Replacing traffic signals at the Range Line Road and Kildeer Court intersections
  • Installing new freeway traffic operations monitoring equipment at the I-43 interchange.

Construction began April 2009 and is scheduled to end November 2009. Project costs are estimated at $ 5.7 million.

Project benefits

This project aims to maximize the life of the new pavement, reduce collisions, improve safety for the traveling public, minimize future maintenance and accommodate bicycles.
